THIRTENTH ANNUAL REDBUD CANOE RACE TO BE HELD ON APRIL 17
The Thirtieth Annual Honaker Redbud Festival Canoe Race will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. The race will begin at the Blackford Canoe Access Area and. Canoes and kayaks will end at the Puckett's Hole Canoe Access Area on the Clinch River. The flat bottom boats will end at Karla Herndon Park. An entry fee of $10.00 per person will be required. This years race is a Poker Run with a $100 prize for best hand and a $25 prize for the worst hand. The race will end at 6:00 p.m. If a boat has not reached the finish line by 6:00 p.m., a final card will be drawn for it and winners announced. The Blackford Canoe Access Area is on Route 80 three miles south of Honaker and three miles north of Rosedale and US Route 19. The Puckett Hole Access Area is about 6 miles west of Blackford off State Route 652, just north of its intersection with State Route 640.
